Flat connected learning is where all learners have freedom to communicate across borders rather than up or down – with no hierarchy.

Through Flat Connections we:

  • Build futuristic global online classrooms without walls for learning to be personal, collaborative and challenge-based
  • Provide platforms for learners to work together and co-create outcomes over a period of time
  • Make positive change possible in the world through online global collaboration and action
  • Design innovative programs to ensure success in global competence, intercultural awareness and digital fluency
  • Aim to extend short global interactions and ‘show and tell’ creations into true co-creation of learning and actionable outcomes
  • Provide the inspiration and support to build bridges between students that our future can walk across

When learning is ‘flat’ then global becomes possible and collaborative legacies are created.

Join Flat Connections to learn about the world, with the world

Flat Connections provides unique approaches to online global collaboration. We ‘flatten’ the disconnected classroom to become a global learning environment of the future.

GLOBAL EDUCATORS

The Global Educator online courses are recommended for K-20 educators and education leaders. They are multi-faceted and provide options for those who want a shorter learning experience and those who wish to become more embedded in the practice and theory of online global learning – how to connect, communicate, digital citizenship skills, intercultural understanding and online global collaboration.

GLOBAL PROJECTS

Flat Connections Global Projects are open to any teacher, any class, and any school in the world.

Each project has age and workflow requirements. Some projects are offered twice a year within the February-June and August-December months, whilst others  run once a year, depending on demand and availability.

What People Say …

I was really impressed with the organization. I think we as a group were surprised by how time-consuming it was but the outcome was definitely worth it. Creating the website was definitely very exciting.

Helle Kirstein, British International School, Phuket, Thailand

It is a tremendous gift to students to help them learn outside the walls of their classroom. This is an authentic learning experience they will never forget.

Jane Boarman, Shorecrest Preparatory School, USA

Best platform to connect with educators and students around the world

Sudha Rajouria

My students really had fun taking the photos to share. We had some great discussions about what others would want to know about us.

Tina Schmidt

Students were exposed to a variety of tech tools that may have been new to them. They liked feeling like they were a part of something larger with others from all over. This project also helped some of the teachers from our school learn about collaboration and learn some new tools.

Bonnie Birdsall

The asynchronous debate was very exciting for my students – to know they were debating against real teams living somewhere else in the world was very powerful.

Singapore American School, Singapore

An excellent opportunity to connect and have discourse across geographical distance. A wonderful exercise in critical thinking and cross-cultural dialogue.

MC2 Charter School, USA.

This has been a wonderful experience for the students at Waterfall and one that they will remember. Being part of this project has also encouraged me to learn more about global projects and introduced technology that I have not used before and it was great to share that learning experience with my students.

Jennifer Porter, Waterfall Public School

Start early, practice using the digital tools and just have a go! It was a great experience. Support was excellent. The kids loved it!

Michele Rutter, St Paul’s School

Have a go, make sure your students ask lots of questions of their teammates. It is such a terrific concept and well aligned with the Australian curriculum.
